Beautiful film. Now that’s what you call a classic.
Ford does some pretty impressive camera work with a mediocre novel-adaptation. Still not as good as Kane, but a good film nonetheless.
John Ford finds a nostalgic beauty in Victorian-era working class ideals, binding his huge cast of actors together as one synchronised mass.
People hate on it for beating Citizen Kane at the Oscars, others say it’s better than Citizen Kane to earn cool points. To me it’s very mid.
Technically a very well made film, but not one I would go out of my way to watch (again).
Hated it, it was literally a pain to watch.
Didn't like it when I first saw it, but I've come to appreciate it over time. Very well made drama.
