Joe Moore has a job he loves. He's a thief. His job goes sour when he gets caught on security camera tape. His fence, Bergman, reneges on the money he's owed, and his wife may be betraying him with the fence's young lieutenant. Moore and his partner, Bobby Blane, and their utility man, Pinky Pincus, find themselves broke, betrayed, and blackmailed. Moore is forced to commit his crew to do one last big job.

One of the most underrated movies ever!!!!!! Has by far the best dialogue out of any other film out there.

The cast, concept and banter make the setup appear very promising. The plot drags at times, squandering some of that potential. Still solid.

It's a good movie for the time period. They were all pretty much in par as a whole. Always a good watch.

The plot has twists and the characters don't know who to trust. It doesn't feel well executed and gets a little confusing. Decent acting.

Interesting characters, the story ebbs & flows nicely, kept you guessing. Ending surprised me, not cuz of the 1 thing, cuz of the other.

Underwhelming, but well acted. Gene Hackman was always good.

Quite uneventful and formulaic. Doesn't blow my mind and I don't think I will watch it again.

Decent Mamet crime thriller worth seeing with the always excellent Gene Hackman

Typical D. Mamet. Misdirection, scamming the scammer. Minimal stacatto clipped dialogue. Hidden agendas. What saves it is Gene Hackman.

It's decent Mamet elevated by a brilliant cast (minus Pigeon, though she's maybe at her least bad here).
