This is a very important, cultural peace for Australians. The movie crew out for longer than needed at times, but the ending is worth it.
There certainly are better war films out there but a young Mel is great and it covers a battle otherwise untouched on screen.
A war movie that doesn't get to the war until nearly three quarters in - an incredible story of friendship - a gripping movie.
Film classic that brings home the futilities and battle tactics of WW1.
Very good script, very good acting, very good-looking, very good ending
Excellent anti war drama with Mel Gibson in an early role, superbly directed by Peter Weir and beautifully shot
Less a war movie and more a story about the loss of innocence.
Depressing story about Australian lads being led to their death by an incompetent army.
An emotionally gripping film that offers a unique perspective on the war genre
Peter Weir’s direction and Mel Givson’s starpower were showcased in this dark anti-war film that put them both on the path to fame.
