No wonder it won the grand jury at Sundance. The story and format of the film are absolutely captivating.
The only I don’t like about this is the animation. Everything else is top notch, a really moving, heartbreaking story.
I’m just sad that a lot of people will dismiss it because it is a animated documentary in a non-english language. Loved it

In the vein of Persepolis or Waltz With Bashir and just as moving a depiction of the horrors of war and the guilt of survival.
An evolutionary step that blurs the line between documentary and narrative filmmaking with an art style that’s immersive and dream like.
A fun and powerful story of someone finding safety and who they are. My only issue is the animation was not my cup of tea.
Very well done, a cartoon documentary that helps hide the true identities of the characters, and fills in past blanks of the story
Impressive and it reminds me of the hard times immigrants face in many different countries.
Such a powerful story. It’s definitely one that isn’t the easiest to watch for many reasons but it’s so worth it.
