Extremely well shot, but such striking visuals a compelling story does not make
Black but with touches of humour. Stunning cinematography. Intriguing plot. Provocative. I liked it a lot.
You can’t think of yourself as a cinefile if you haven’t seen this.
As a homage to classic Hollywood and an expressionist work of art, it succeeds. However its melodramatic sensitivities may feel excessive.
Really interesting plot. Worth watching multiple times. Very different from von triers other works.
Von Trier is always hard to fully understand, but often enjoyable even when you don't; this film (and the whole trilogy) is the exception
Very stylish, much trains. Like The Third Man, but even more ambiguous.
A little slow, but an interesting take on a piece of the history of Germany and Europe.
Has a very different feel than his later work, but a pretty remarkable feat once it reveals all its nuance & depth. Smart & poignant.
Very intriguing and well directed.
