Dr. Henry Jekyll believes that there are two distinct sides to men - a good and an evil side. He believes that by separating the two, man can become liberated. He succeeds in his experiments with chemicals to accomplish this and transforms into Hyde to commit horrendous crimes. When he discontinues use of the drug, it is already too late.

The cinematography and acting still hold up today. It has a slow start, but it builds to a great finale.
Quite a bit more disturbing than I expected from such an early film. My biggest complaint are the teeth, which were more funny than scary.
The cinematography is by itself worth the watch. Fredric March won best actor for it. A bit cheesy at times but come on, it’s 1931.
A sad story with some interesting character dynamics. Not as scary as today's horror movies, but it's still worth a watch.
Doesn’t follow the book as much but instead, presents something much more sinister and realistic even today.
Excellent early adaption of the book likely influenced by stage adaptions before it. Very innovative use of camera and effects. Watch once.
Superior to the novel due its creepy depiction of sexual abuse. March and Hopkins are exceptional.
The acting is surprisingly good for an older film. Other than that a bit slow and not scary
A horror classic. I actually prefer this to any of the universal monster movies. Incredible performances.
Great special effects but pretty terrible. A film that somehow probably managed to scare people ages ago but doesn’t now.
