Caius Martius, aka Coriolanus, is an arrogant and fearsome general who has built a career on protecting Rome from its enemies. Pushed by his ambitious mother to seek the position of consul, Coriolanus is at odds with the masses and unpopular with certain colleagues. Of all the modernizations of Shakespeare, this may be the best.
31/2* Trouble with Shakespeare's language? Read play first. An excellent production synthesizing classic acting & modern warfare/politics
Great rendition of a Shakespeare-attributed play.
An interesting version of Shakespeare's play. The performances make it worth a watch.
Movie itself was pretty good. But that goofy language in which they speak is very distracting. I'm glad that's not read world speech.
The modern setting makes the language easier to understand and therefore the movie more enjoyable
Completely forgettable, so much so I can't even think of a way to make a pithy comment.
It's not for everyone but I enjoyed it, especially after reading the playwrite. It's a good adaptation
Modern Shakespeare movie not really for me
A tragedy
