Billy Bigelow has been dead for 15 years. Now outside the pearly gates, he long ago waived his right to go back to Earth for a day. He has heard that there is a problem with his family: namely with his wife Julie Bigelow, née Jordan, and his child he hasn't met. He would now like to head back to Earth to assist in rectifying the problem; but before he may go, he has to get permission from the gatekeeper by telling him his story. Adapted from the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit Broadway musical.

Amazing, this movie is an all-time classic about a dynamic duo who are trying to find honest work, but Billy's past will catch up with him.
Deals with some harsh things for a musical (domestic abuse). Some great music.
Rodgers and Hammerstein treatise on love and marriage. “If I Loved you” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” are classic and beautiful songs.
I do love a R&H musical and the spectacle is fabulous but I can’t get behind the “hit hard and not hurt at all” of the romance.
such a timeless classic. I love these two together
I know it’s a classic both well-made and choreographed, and I admit the story is good, but I find it musically boring. Wanted more than it.
The dancing is the only redeeming factor.
Always a classic. Beautiful music.
