The performances are strong but, sadly, the horror of prison isn’t as shocking to my jaded 21st-century eyes as it probably was in the 80s.

Redford is wonderful in this moralistic and scathing indictment on the state of America’s prison system, though it never seems to lose hope.

Drags a lot in some parts and the direction is bland. Decent performance from Redford and interesting themes, but it could have been better.

Highlights endemic governmental and prison system corruption. The elements of pure fiction are justifiable for dramatic purposes.

This is a slow burn with real emotions. Very good prison drama.

Robert Redford has done better. It’s not bad... it’s just not very entertaining.

Decent one timer.
