A hapless talent manager named Danny Rose, by helping a client, gets dragged into a love triangle involving the mob. His story is told in flashback, an anecdote shared amongst a group of comedians over lunch at New York's Carnegie Deli. Rose's one-man talent agency represents countless incompetent entertainers, including a one-legged tap dancer, and one slightly talented one: washed-up lounge singer Lou Canova, whose career is on the rebound.

If it has gypsy music it’s amazing in my book.

The characters in this are such wonderful comic inventions, and Danny Rose himself might be Allen's best performance.

Each scene interesting enough to watch the next scene. That's enough to make a good film

Small-time (yet legendary) talent manager has an adventure when ferrying his top client’s mistress to a show. Sweet, but a bit too low-key.

Woody Allen mines more of his personal life, this time with dreadfully boring results. Good acting though

I'd always enjoy a Woody Allen film. His pathetic act is hilarious. He ridicules himself but still gives his alter egos heart and dignity.

It’s another cute, little movie in black and white by Woody. Nothing fancy.

Surprisingly one of Allen’s finest.

Woody Allen at the top of his game.
