Incredible display of colour and cinematography. Absolutely loved Beanpole - the portrayal of PTSD was great too.
If you like realistic period films with great stories attached--this is a gem. Rugged, raw, and dark--post war Russia. Amazing!
A touching drama which deals with several complex topics (post World War II life in USSR, war traumas, communism, love, jealousy...)

Beanpole begins bleak and always finds fresh ways to make itself bleaker yet. It does this without overstepping or being eye-rollingly edgy.
A gripping 1st half on the coping with the horrors of war gives way to a slow, stilted, meandering love triangle in the 2nd.
Slow and dark. Very somber visualization of post WWII Soviet Russia.
That was disturbing experience, I was hurting for the characters because of the unflinching pace of the plot
Incredible performances and production design. But it’s just so bleak and upsetting that I didn’t get much enjoyment out of it. Memorable.
Good but kinda complex, not rewatchable at all and very forgettable
