Air America was the CIA's private airline operating in Laos during the Vietnam War, running anything and everything from soldiers to foodstuffs for local villagers. After losing his pilot's license, Billy Covington is recruited into it, and ends up in the middle of a bunch of lunatic pilots, gun-running by his friend Gene Ryack, and opium smuggling by his own superiors.

Entertaining, which is a rare thing to say about a movie so entrenched in the Vietnam War.
Cast makes it bearable, but the storyline's weak."Easy" american flick, not very thought provoking. Got through it with a couple of laughs.
Not great but a film that is able to find some dark humor from U.S. intervention in Southeast Asia deserves notice. Gibson is actually funny
It’s not horrible, but it’s just not a stand out either. I watched this over 30 years ago, and totally forgot about it.
The chemistry between Gibson and Downey Jr. Is excellent and the plot is good fun. A great watch.
It’s been a long time, I loved it when I saw it.
Jovial, family friendly fare for these two big names that shows another side of their range! Fair enough but no big wow!
Great movie. I’d also recommend American Made.
Great chemistry between Gibson and Downey Jr.. This movie us funny and also has some decent action. A good watch.
Sold as an action comedy, delivered an overlong drama about America's guilt in South East Asia.
