No flashy editing, camera tricks or overindulgent close ups. Just a simple story, (mostly) naturalistic acting and nicely centered framing.
One of the most beautiful films ever made. Simple, striking, and full of emotion, I was absolutely moved by it. Gotta see Ozu’s remake now.
It’s an interesting first attempt at what would become Ozu’s greatest film 25 years later. Viewed with live piano accompaniment.
Great cinematography and a nice story, I enjoyed it ver much!
Beautifully filmed, this relatable drama tells the story of someone who’s best just isn’t good enough.
