In a rural town in Louisiana, a black Master Sergeant is found shot to death just outside the local Army Base. Military lawyer, Captain Davenport—also a black man—is sent from Washington to conduct an investigation. Facing an uncooperative chain of command and fearful black troops, Davenport must battle with deceit and prejudice in order to find out exactly who really did kill the Master Sergeant.

I really wanted to like the movie. The story considers racial bigotry in armed service. But the film is not well-supported.

Kept me engaged through the whole thing. Still very important in today’s day and age.

Very good movie. A murder mystery set in the 1940s on a army base Dealing with racism at that period of time and the complexity of army.

A slow and clichéd film. Run-of-the-mill with nothing new to say. The only highlight is Caesar’s performance,

A great mystery that plays with the racial divides that even existed in the armed services.
