It's basically a filmed play, but the dialogue, structure, and acting raise it to a level far above the typical screenplay and direction.
A moving story of housing discrimination, racism, and assimilation. Mr Pottier is always worth watching. I don't think he made a bad film.
Really entertaining. Not as good as the play though.
Very character/dialogue based, Entertaining with memorable characters, avoid if you dont like movies based on plays that have littleaction

black folks get money & want to “move on up to the east side” like the Jefferson’s. Dad looses money & they fight “racism” nothing new here.
