As far as 1950’s musicals go this one is just very average.
Fun for baseball fans. Clunky script & acting. Songs save it. Retelling of Faust. Selling your soul to the devil. Verdon & Ralston shine.
Doesn’t attempt anything new for its genre, but it’s still a feel-good movie that really picks up when Gwen Verdon shows up.
I fast forward through all the scenes without Gwen Verdon. She is stunning to watch.
