Given who made this, when it was made, and the subject matter, I thought it was going to be more racist. It was actually pretty good though.
This was a very sad movie. The "yellow face" obviously didn't aged well but the story is very good
Not the worst thing DW Griffith has ever done, but still… yikes.
There is some interesting social commentary going on here that seems unique to the era. There are also elements that have aged horribly
There's some fascinating exotica here, but it is hard to get past the contemporary tropes.
Its Griffith... But not nearly his best work.
I’m not a fan of Griffith’s movies,but I liked this one
Feel like this movie was very racist but I didn't pick up on it when I was a middle schooler, enjoyed it though
Dated story but important in its time. Gish still shines and I found myself shocked at how powerful her performance was.
It was okay but nothing too spectacular
